Kaitieke School – Ruapehu District – Visual Poetry Jam & Needle-Felting Workshop (26 August 2025)

Today I get to hang out with the amazing 12 students that attend Kaitieke School. It is about 40 minutes outside of Tamaranui, or at least the way I was driving it, down a gravel road in the middle of this beautiful rolling green hill. The kids were amazing and today we got to work with them. I taught them visual storytelling and then I was using cell phones and we learned all about composition skills and how to create stories. Then we got to create a little character. I taught them needle felting and then we took their character down into the Nahiri and photographed it at the end of the day. It was quite an amazing thing. Basically I was teaching them to stab and shoot all day. Got to bring a little bit of the inner city to the country, I guess. It was an amazing, amazing day.
