Glenavy School – Waimate – Visual Poetry Jam Workshop (17 March 2023)
The students were dead keen to be part of the workshop which is always a great start and were joined by a teacher’s aide who was also very keen to learn and share the skills with the school.
We started the day with a workshop to familiarize the students with the advanced settings on their cellphones.
The assistant principal had a unique challenge for the students to partake in at the end of their lessons. The community had recently built a new bike track near the school and there was a walkway between the school and the bike track. The students were to photograph other students going over the bike track and to film and photograph along the way because in the following days the students would be helping to design what would be planted along the route.
The kids got right into it using leading lines and bugs eye view and frame within a frame to try and showcase the bike track in the best manner.
We created a TikTok video of the behind the scenes of the day (@nzrainbowchallenge) https://www.tiktok.com/@nzrainbowchallenge/video/7215522002520657159
