Windley School – Porirua – Visual Poetry Jam (16 August 2022)

Following the COVID restrictions we began working with a group of students from Windley School, over a term to develop their interest and skills in visual storytelling. The program was conducted on a weekly basis. The students were encouraged to bring in a taonga (a treasured object) that was significant to them and learn how to photograph it. Throughout the program, they explored various elements of photography, including cellphonography, exposure, bokeh, and blurring backgrounds, slow shutter speed, and composition techniques such as rule of thirds, leading lines, frames within frames, juxtaposition, perspective, and reflection.
