Waitomo District Library – Te Kuiti Visual Poetry Jam Workshop (11 November 2023)
It was lovely revisiting the area and reconnecting with Marama from the high school – local arts teacher. And with the local library staff. The high school brought 10 students, and we also had 4 homeschool students join us for the day, plus a librarian and Marama. The weather was a scorcher, creating great opportunities to play with shadows. There was an old abandoned graffitied building behind the library, which made for fantastic experimental backdrops, as well as the beautiful street art near the library. We were spoiled for choice to complete the workshop. To be honest, the homeschooled students were the most engaged of the people who came, as they ended up winning most of the challenges. But when we posted the Tiktok video of the day the students from the Highschool were quite complementary. – this was so much fun!!
